Our clients often ask how they can get married in Turkey. What are the legal and legal requirements of getting married in Turkey? The good news is that getting married here is relatively simple: thousands of travelers do it each year.

From Fethiye to Kas, on a hillside in Kalkan, the heart of Kas, the Turkish government is relatively open-minded about wedding venues, even though they are officially registered. Like any wedding, you'll need to plan ahead (we recommend at least six months), but make sure our planners have a wealth of experience in creating bespoke weddings.

Below are the main factors you should consider.

Where Can I Get Married and Who Will Manage the Wedding?

Civil ceremonies can be held anywhere officially licensed, including villas, a hall or open spaces. These official ceremonies are performed by the local mayor or other government official. An interpreter can be provided.

Although Turkey is a Muslim country, all religious weddings are recognized, so it is possible to have a Jewish, Christian or Hindu ceremony. For all non-Muslim religious ceremonies, you will first need to perform a civil ceremony for union to be legal.

Wedding in Turkey: Legal Requirements

Any person can be married in Turkey. You will need to provide legal documents that define your identity and document that there are no obstacles preventing you from getting married, just like at home.

An experienced wedding planner will walk you through every step of this process. You will need to prepare the following documents:

• Marriage declaration issued as two examples,

• Passport or photo ID sample,

• For example the population Register,

• Health report/official health board report

• Consent document,

• Passport photo.

• If at least one of you is Catholic and you plan to marry in a church, you will need additional documents from your own congregation, including baptismal and confirmation certificates, additional non-marriage letters, and proof of pre-wedding attendance. Talk to your local congregation to learn more about this. All of this can take about two months, so allow plenty of time to put these plans into practice.

How Much Will My Wedding in Turkey Cost?

Just like in your own country, the cost of a wedding is a moving feast and depends entirely on scale and details. Therefore, it would not be healthy to give you a price at a point where you can make an estimate. You can contact our concierge team for detailed information on this subject.

Making it official: Marriage certificate

You will sign the marriage certificate at your wedding. Your marriage license will be certified by the local mayor and you will need to go to the local city hall before or after the wedding to have it officially stamped and get a translated copy.
